While we were initially excited to see Bodyshape's could results, our research quickly showed that Bodyshape was nothing more than an expensive lotion, and had little to no effect on cellulite removal. What is Bodyshape?

Bodyshape is a cellulite cream manufactured by Hydroderm. Hydroderm is known for playing up to a patented “liposome technology” they claim uses tiny bubbles of cell membrane material to supposedly deliver ingredients into the deep layers of skin to the body's fat cells where they can be dehydrated and shrunken. Wikipedia, however, tells us that while liposome technology is used to deliver some medications through the layer of fat, but is not used on the fat cells themselves.

Bodyshape Ingredients

The Hydroderm website doesn't bother to list any of the ingredients so our review team had to do a little digging to determine the Bodyshape formula. Bodyshape, it turns out, is really mostly collagen backed with a bulk of chemical preservatives, most of which are dangerous parabens. Parabens are believed to cause negative estrogenic effects. Bodyshape ingredients are:

• Collagen (marine) - the protein component of the body's connective tissues. Collagen is responsible for skin elasticity and its degradation causes wrinkles. However, there is no proof that collagen can be successfully introduced to the body through a cream.
• Distilled water and purified water
• Cephene - one ingredient our reviewers could not determine. Possibly a species of fly larva.
• Methylparaben - an antifungal agent commonly used in hair gel and as a food preservative.
• Ethylparaben - another food preservative with no other legitimate uses.
• Propylparaben - this preservative is one actually used in many cosmetics.
• Butylparaben - another antifungal preservative for use in cosmetics.
• Isobutylparaben - one more preservative.
• Synasol - a pharmaceutical name for ethanol, i.e. beverage alcohol.
• Serum protein - a total serum protein test determines the amount of protein in the blood, but there is no substance called “serum protein” which makes us wonder what this actually may be.
• PRE complex - as with serum protein, our reviews were unable to determine what this phrase means as an ingredient.
• Imidazolidinyl urea - another preservative, but this one is antimicrobial instead of antifungal. Some people are known to suffer an allergic reaction from exposure.
• EDTA - an antioxidant sometimes used preservative enhancer to make other preservatives more effective.
• Potassium sorbate - yet another preservative.
• Citric acid - a natural preservative.
• Ascorbic acid - another preservative.

Buy Bodyshape

Bodyshape is sold in some stores and online at select online retailers. The Hydroderm website lists Bodyshape at $60 for an 8 oz tube. Bodyshape offers a 30-day trial, but ordering the trial will automatically enlist you into a subscription program. If you don't cancel your membership within a certain period of time the company will charge your credit card for the product. Does Bodyshape Work?

Our research, in combination with countless consumer reviews, show that Hydroderm's Bodyshape is for the most part non-effective at removing cellulite. Most users of Bodyshape claim they saw minimal results after 4 months use at double dosages. Reviews from completely satisfied customers are hard to find, along with any recommendations for Bodyshape.
